Louis Mancuso

Hello! My name is Louis Mancuso. I grew up here in Douglas County, knew it was a great place to be, and now have been teaching in DCSD for 22 years. I am married to my wonderful wife and we have 2 kids. I enjoy being in the outdoors, traveling, and socializing with family & friends. I will be your child’s 6th grade Science & Social Studies teacher. This will be my 5th year at Soaring Hawk. I am looking forward to a wonderful year together!

I graduated from Douglas County High School in 1994. After that, I attended Arapahoe Community College to obtain my associate degree, and then went to Western State and received my Psychology degree and Education Certification in 1998. Finally, in 2004 I earned my Master’s Degree in Teaching and Learning from Regis University.

Shay Watson

Hello everyone! This is my 7th year at Soaring Hawk. I have been teaching 5th grade the last six years, so most of you will recognize me. I am very excited about my loop up to 6th grade this year with this amazing group of kids. I grew up in Castle Rock and even graduated from DC. I am very adventurous and love to travel. During quarantine you would have found me fishing somewhere with my family. I love to read and play video games. Interesting fact about me is that I have worked at Applebee’s for almost 14 years. I love socializing any chance I get. Mr. Watson is an Illinois native. He grew up in Decatur, IL. He is an accountant and could not be anymore opposite than me. He is very tall (6’ 7”) and VERY shy. I have a 7 year old named Colvin. He will be in second grade this year and is very excited to have Mrs. Sims. I also have an almost 3 year old named Wrigley. We like to laugh about funny Wrigley stories during the day. She is a very opinionated and sassy 2 year old that is always making us laugh.

Cathy Theis

Hello! My name is Cathy Theis. I am a Colorado native, but have only been in the Denver area for a year. I will be your child’s 6th grade Math teacher. This will be my 1st year at Soaring Hawk, and I’m loving it already! I have taught pre-school and grades first through fifth over the past 18 years. Math is by far my favorite subject to teach. I am looking forward to all the adventures we have ahead of us with this new way of learning.

I grew up in Rocky Ford, a small town in Southeast Colorado. I am married to a supportive and fun husband, Chris, and have 2 kids: Emilie (23) and Danile (15). Emilie and her husband, Cody, have a son, Jameson (20 months and the apple of my eye). We have two fur babies, Cupcake (15) and Ozzie (16 months). I enjoy working on home improvement projects, traveling, biking, and socializing with family & friends.

I graduated from Swink High School in 1989. After that, I attended the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs where I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in business, and later I went back to school and earned my Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Development plus Educational Leadership from Adams State University.

Laura Muise

Welcome back to Soaring Hawk 6th graders! This year is sure to be a memorable one. Unfortunately I won't get to know all of you this year as I will be teaching the 100% eLearning 6th graders because we are expecting our second baby in early March! My husband, Jared, and I live in Centennial with our one-year old son, Colton, and our two fur babies Reggie and Jager. I am originally from Pennsylvania, but moved to Colorado four years ago since my husband is a native Coloradan and we love to get outdoors. In 2008 I received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Kutztown University of PA where I was also captain of the track and field team. In 2015 I earned my Master's Degree in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment from Penn State University and this summer I became certified in Secondary English Language Arts. I am looking forward to the new adventure we are all embarking on! Best wishes for a fabulous final year at Soaring Hawk!
