Art Education - Ms. D'Arthenay

My name is Kim D'Arthenay, and I am very excited to be teaching art at Soaring Hawk Elementary, and I've been at Soaring Hawk since 2005. (Last year I taught e-learning art to 800 students, including some of my Soaring Hawk students, but am happy to be back in-person with you this year!)

I was born in Canada (in Quebec) and, yes, I do speak French! Subsequently, I moved to Vermont and lived there until I graduated from high school.

I studied art at the University of New Mexico where I received my BFA (in studio art), and later went back to UNM to receive my teaching license in art (k-12) as well as my Masters in Art Education (I also studied, and nearly entered the Art Therapy field). Before I had my son, I created more artwork and showed it in various galleries around the Denver area. Now, my production is lower, but I still participate in 2 or more art shows per year.

This is my twenty second year teaching art to elementary art students, and I LOVE my job! I live in Castle Rock, and love to be part of this community. I have  an energetic and sweet twelve-year-old son named Dylan and two sweet puppies, Soleil and Valentine. I look forward to seeing you in art!
